Day 1. 2nd September, Calais(France)-Luxembourg (luxembourg). Approximately 250 Miles.

Our tour starts with us meeting in Folkestone at around 8am on 2nd September . The meeting point is the Premier Inn CA19 4AP To catch the 10.20 Euro Tunnel to Calais. From experience from previous trips lots of people have stopped here the night before their trip. Once in France we will regroup just after we depart the train. Once everyone is there we will have a nice day of cross country driving through picturesque northern France via Dunkirk Belgium and finally into Luxembourg, before stopping for our first night as a group @ Camping Nommerlayen.

Day 2. 3rd September, Rest Day (Luxembourg)

This road trip is not just about driving is a great way to spend time enjoy local sites etc. So today we have a full rest day giving you the opportunity to visit Luxembourg here is a suggestion for the day but obvously you are welcome to spend your rest day as you wish. Morning in Luxembourg City walking the old town, Chemin de la Corniche, palace area and Bock Casemates, then lunch/drinks down in the Grund district by the river.

After that either head out to Mullerthal (“Little Switzerland”) for forest roads, waterfalls and scenic driving, or up to Vianden Castle for mountain roads and views. Finish back in the city for food/beers in Grund or Clausen. Before heading back to the same campsite as the night before.

Day 3. 4th September Luxembourg (Luxembourg)-Baden-Baden(Germany) 190 Miles.

A nice drive over today following this route ,Luxembourg → Moselle wine route → Trier → Saarburg → Bostalsee → Palatinate Forest roads → French/German border twisties → Black Forest scenic roads → Baden-Baden.

Lots of river views, vineyards, forest roads and little German towns all the way. Trier and Saarburg are great food/coffee stops, then the roads through the Palatinate Forest and into the Black Forest are brilliant driving roads. An easy full-day road trip with lots of scenic/photo stops. Before we stop for the night @ Camping Herrenwies.

Day 4. 5th September, Baden-Baden (Germany)-Zell Am See(Austria) Approximately 300 Miles

Today sees us join the B500 at Baden Baden and wind our way along this epic piece of road that sees us leave Germany and head into Austria through the foothills of the beautiful mountains of Tyrol to our base for 2 nights near Zell Am See.

Day 5. 6th September, Rest Day(Zell Am See)

Here we take a well deserved rest day, Giving you time for some leisure time or traditional tourist activities. Which could include a drive out to the famous Grossglockner high alpine road, the highest surfaced mountain pass in Austria or a trip to the Eagle’s nest- Hitler’s summer retreat in Berchtesgaden. Or you could spend some time in historic Salzburg, a beautiful city and birthplace of Beethoven. On previous trips we have known people visit all three in the same day. Before returning to Sportcamp Woferglut or our second night in Zell Am See.

Day 6. 7th September, Zell Am See(Austria)-St Gallen(Switzerland) Approximately 200 Miles.

We then leave Zell Am See continuing west we are in for a great day This one looks like it could end up being one of the standout days of the trip.

Route would be Zell am See → Mittersill → Gerlos Pass → Krimml Waterfalls → through the Zillertal valley → Innsbruck → Arlberg region → Liechtenstein → Appenzell → St. Gallen. It’s basically nonstop Alpine scenery the whole way — glacier views, mountain lakes, huge valleys and proper winding roads. Krimml looks worth stopping for on its own, and the stretch into Switzerland through Appenzell seems unreal for scenery and little café stops. Definitely more of an “enjoy the drive” day than a cover miles day. And after an epic day we will take a well deserved rest @ Camping Jakobsbab.

Day 7. 8th September. St Gallen (Switzerland) -Fieschertal(Switzerland) Approximately 200 Miles.

From here we head for the Alpe Di Sorecia to take on the world famous Gotthard pass with its famous cobbled hairpins, get in touch with your inner 007 on the nearby Furka pass immortalized by the car chase in Goldfinger then drive the giddy heights of the Grimsel pass at an elevation of 7,100 feet and the Nufenen at 8,130 feet. Then after taking on these amazing world famous passes we wind our way towards Fieschertal for our evening stay @ Camping Eggishorn.

Day 8. 9th September, Rest Day Fischertal (Switzerland)

Today we have another rest day giving you the chance to explore this stunning part of the Swiss Alps. We are thinking to keep the Fieschertal rest day properly relaxed and avoid driving mountain passes all day. Your welcome to that if you wish. Plan is slow morning with coffee/breakfast, then cable car up towards Eggishorn for views over the Aletsch Glacier without loads of driving. After that just easy walks/viewpoints rather than full hikes.

Then head down into the valley for lunch somewhere traditional in Fiesch or Ernen, have a wander round the old Swiss villages/churches, maybe stop by the Rhône river or lake areas nearby for a chilled afternoon You could finish with spa/thermal baths at Brigerbad or just beers and food back at the campsite watching the mountains in the evening. More of a recharge day with scenery than a big driving day.

Day 9. 10th September , Fieschertal(Switzerland) – Basel-(Switzerland) App 220 Miles.

After an epic 8 days away we now start to head towards home. For the run from Fieschertal → Basel I reckon we avoid the quickest motorway route and cut across via the lakes instead. Route would be Fieschertal → Brig → Lake Thun → Interlaken → Lake Brienz → Lucerne area → Basel.

The stretch around Lakes Thun and Brienz looks unreal — turquoise water, waterfalls, wooden villages and mountain backdrops pretty much the whole way. Interlaken is a good lunch/coffee stop, then the roads around Lucerne a really scenic route without being hard work driving-wise. Our evening campsite will be @ Camping Waldhort.

Day 10. 1st June, Basel (Swizerland)- Troyes(France) Approximately 250 Miles.

Todays drive is more like a classic French touring day — vineyards, old fortified towns, lakes and quiet countryside roads most of the way. Colmar is meant to be a great breakfast/coffee stop, Langres looks unreal sat up on the hilltop walls, then the lakes near Troyes are supposed to be perfect for a chilled evening stop before heading onto our evenings campsite @ Camping Le Lac d’Orient.

Day 11. 11th September, Troyes(France)-Calais( Approximately 300 Miles.

After your breakfast we need to get on road by 9am. Then we will say our goodbyes and head back towards Calais to catch our 18.20pm Eurotunnel return to the UK.

This is a true European road-trip adventure designed for people who genuinely love driving, exploring and experiencing unforgettable roads and landscapes from behind the wheel of their van.

Over the course of the journey, we’ll tackle long driving days, epic mountain roads, winding coastal routes and some of the most breathtaking scenery Europe has to offer. Every mile is part of the adventure. Having completed this route before, we can honestly say the places, roads and experiences along the way make every second behind the wheel worthwhile. As Ralph Waldo Emerson famously said, “It’s not the destination, it’s the journey” — and on this trip, the journey is a huge part of what makes it so special.

This is not a fully guided convoy-style tour, and intentionally so. With a group of this size, everyone travels differently — some want to stop for every photo opportunity, others want to push on and discover hidden roads or places along the way. Instead, this trip is built around freedom, flexibility and shared adventure.

Each van or small group will travel between campsites at their own pace, choosing routes and stops that suit them best, while still being part of the wider adventure. We’ll provide suggested scenic routes, daily guidance, recommendations and support throughout the trip, but the experience is yours to make your own.

Every evening, the group will regroup at the campsite to relax, share stories from the day, compare routes, enjoy food and drinks, and plan the next stage of the adventure together. To help everyone stay connected during the day, each van will also be provided with a handheld CB radio.

This is more than just a road trip — it’s an experience built around driving, scenery, freedom and unforgettable memories with like-minded people.

Daily mileage estimates are based on the most direct routes, but actual distances will vary depending on the paths chosen between destinations.

The cost to be part of this incredible European road-trip adventure is £989 per vehicle, based on VW Transporter size van if larger an additional cost will be added by Eurotunnel. Additional passengers can be added for £200 per person. Electric hook-up is not included, as availability varies between campsites and is often limited. Where available, hook-ups will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. However, with only a handful of multi-night stops on the itinerary, a good leisure battery setup should comfortably support most vans throughout the journey.
