After the amazing success of our NC500 trips over the past few years we often got asked by riders who enjoyed our trips if we could put together a trip to Ireland to take on some of the amazing Wild Atlantic Way. Well the wait is over
Here It is an epic 8 day trip following the same format as the NC500 trips, with tents etc. supplied and transported between sites. Along with riders luggage .
As in Scotland. we will not be traveling in large groups as this really doesn’t work on some of the roads but people tend to split in to smaller groups or do their own thing during the day and meet back up with everyone at the evening’s campsite.
At each campsite there will be a 3-man tent for you along with single camp beds with legs that get you off the floor.. You will be expected to help with the putting up and taking down of your tent each day. This takes a couple of minutes as these are easy pop up style tents. You will need to bring your own bedding and pillows etc. But we do also have a postal option explained at the bottom of the email. Max number of people per tent is two but if you travel alone you will be in a tent on your own.
Below is the route for the trip, and the daily destinations and mileage. Obviously, this trip is about the experience of riding these amazing roads and seeing the stunning scenery Ireland has to offer, and getting to see as many of the local sites and beauty spots. It is not about getting from start to finish as fast as we can. There will be the opportunity to make stops along the way each day to experience as much as you can of what this epic route and countryside has to offer.
Meet in Liverpool around 6pm for a coffee and chat before boarding the boat for our 10.30pm crossing to Belfast. The crossing takes about 8hrs we will have a reserved recliner chair booked for you so you can get some rest before we dock in Belfast at around 06.30am
Our ferry arrives at 06.30am and regroup and get ready to embark on our epic trip. We start by head north along the Antrim coast, towards Ballycastle. After a short break at Ballycastle you will ride the short distance to spend time at The Giants Causeway a real must visit area. From here we continue to hug the coast round to Ballykelly then on past Derry before riding to Moville then along coat before camping near by.@ Binion Bay Campsite
Day 3) 13th August Binion Bay to Sligo .
Today you ride along the coast towards Dunfanaghy keeping tight to the west coast down to Sunny Donegal, before riding onto Sligo for our nights stop nearby Strandhill Caravan & Camping Park.
Day 4) 14th August Sligo to Galway
Today sees us leaving Strandhill riding along the west the west coast that will allow you to explore Mullaghmore Head, then on through Downpatrick Head, and the Ceide Fields with their dramatic cliffs and ancient settlements. We will then be head down to Galway, to stopping for the night at Connemara Camping site.
Day 5) 15th August Galway to Shannon.
Another fantastic day on the Wild Atlantic Way as we leave Connemara and follow the Atlantic coast around Galway Bay and into County Clare. We’ll ride through the spectacular Burren landscape before stopping at the world-famous Cliffs of Moher. From here we continue south through some brilliant coastal roads before making our way to Lakeside Camping for the night. Mile after mile today should remind you exactly why we came to Ireland — and you never know, we might even see some sunshine. No promises though!
Day 6) 16th August
Today we leave the shores of Lough Derg and begin making our way south towards County Kerry. Our route takes us through Killaloe and Limerick before continuing through the beautiful village of Adare and into the rolling countryside of western Ireland.
From here we head towards Listowel and Tralee before finally reaching Killarney, with plenty of opportunities along the way for coffee, photographs and a few spontaneous stops.
Tonight we stay at Flemings White Bridge Caravan & Camping Park, perfectly positioned for the next stage of our Wild Atlantic Way adventure.
Day 7) 17th August Killarney to Cork
Today we leave Killarney and begin making our way east towards Cork, but not before stopping at one of Ireland’s most famous attractions.
Our main stop will be Blarney Castle, home of the legendary Blarney Stone. Tradition says that anyone who kisses the stone is granted the “gift of the gab”, so it would be rude not to give it a try while we’re here.
There will be plenty of time to explore the castle, gardens and grounds before continuing towards Cork.
From Blarney we’ll head south towards the city, with time for a coffee, fuel stop or a wander depending on everyone’s pace.
We’ll then continue to our overnight stop at Hungry Hill Lodge & Campsite, ready for the next stage of the Wild Atlantic Way.
Day 8) 18th August Cork to Wexford taking in a stop at James Fort and the ever popular Charles Fort. then we are almost coming to the end of our epic trip. Tonight we will be camping at Eagle point camping.
Day 9) 19th August Wexford to Dublin
Our amazing trip is now nearly at its end. We will pack away for the final time, and set off towards Dublin to catch our return crossing that departs @ 16,30 that takes us back to Hollyhead (wales) the boat docks at 20.00 we will disembark and say our goodbyes before making our individual ways home.
The cost of this amazing trip to Ireland is £689.00 per bike and can include a pillion. The price covers ferry crossings both ways. 8 nights camping , provision of your tent, ,camp bed, and chair. . We make you a hot drink each morning, and you will also get a souvenir enamel mug to keep as a memory of your trip with us.
